Lane House

–

Neo-Georgian replacement dwelling

Lane House neo-Georgian red-brick home and garage in a mature landscaped garden

The house draws on the Classical principles of proportion, symmetry and balance, whilst adopting a revivalist interpretation to ensure the architecture feels authentic rather than pastiche. A restrained palette of traditional materials reinforces this approach, with facing red brickwork, clay roof tiles and flush casement windows creating a cohesive and timeless character.

Careful attention to scale, detailing and materiality allows Lane House to sit comfortably within its established surroundings, demonstrating how a new home can respond positively to a historic context.

Project Description

Lane House is a carefully considered new home that takes its architectural cues from the neo-Georgian tradition, responding sensitively to its setting within the Lindfield Conservation Area. Set within a spacious and mature plot, the design was developed in close collaboration with a local Heritage Consultant following the site’s identification by the local planning authority as a positive contributor to the conservation area.
